SLJ day 1 Activity 1: Setting Sail

HI BLOGGERS !!!!

Today the SLJ(summer learning journey) is starting today.

People from Pacific nations have always been expert explorers and navigators. In the past, they used the stars, sun and ocean swells to find their way (navigate) around the Pacific Ocean. Master navigator, Nainoa Thompson, has used the ancient Polynesian wayfinding skills to navigate around the world. In 2013, Nainoa led a crew across the Pacific Ocean on two large canoes (Hokulea and Hikianalia). The crew stopped off in Aotearoa, New Zealand in 2015 on their journey and visited the Manaiakalani Schools in Auckland.

If I was on a boat I would bring and remember there are no freezer  and I will bring:Bread, ham, dry food , fruit, rice, chocolate, veg, water, can food and chips.
I chose these food because they do not roten .

The first activity was called choosing a destination

I would like to go to England because my family has English ancestors and my great great great great great poppa was the Mayor of London . So it would be cool to go and see his grave. Also their national sport is football and I love football.

Kid Bot

Hey bloggers! This week we have been programing a bot around a page. This meant we had to get our bot from one square to the other. First we did it with a buddy then we had to make a google drawing on it. I picked Frodo from the movie  dragon ball. I told my friend/ buddy to get the 7 drigon ball  and take it to he mountain and drop it in. To complete the test you had to use arrows to guide your bot safely though its mission. If you would like to try to complete my challenge just comment what you think. Here is my google drawing:

Athletics

Welcome back bloggers!
A couple days ago our school had it's Ath

letics Day!
Athletics Day is basically a fun day where we get to do multiple sports and compete for a place in zones (A bigger competition for some sports against other schools).
On Athletics Day we have to dress up in our house colours, red, blue, green and yellow also representing Kea, Ruru, Pukeko and Tui.
I am in ruru
I like lots of the sports we did but my favourite sport would have to be high jump.
I came 2nd in high jump after jumping 1.10 m and failing 1.14 m, meaning I will be going to zones. We did sprints, high jump, tennis, shot put, team building and long jump.
The juniors did some other sports like jumping hurdles as well.

Here are some photos from the day

fun creation

This week, the senior syndicate started a Fun Creations tumble. On the tumble there were set tasks for everyone to do. The tasks were making an origami frog, a marshmallow tower, making a play dough insect, cutting patterns, making butter, plasticine characters, pavement art, lego place and paper planes. My favourite activity was pavement art. I collaborated with Abigail to make a huge earth using chalk. Judging by the fact that we had never learnt geography, I think we did pretty well. I also liked the marshmallow maths activity because we got to eat the marshmallows in the end.
I think that we should do more activities like this because it was really fun and we actually learnt stuff.
Here is my fun creation

Unveiling

Hi bloggers!!

This week we unveiled our art that we have been working on for the last three weeks we had be putting a lot of our best work into this and a lot of detail. On the day we had a special assembly we sat under our massive gum tree and one by one people that were specially chosen to pull down the blanket  unveiling the art. The first one to be unveiled was the Latin American girl .The next one was the Fiji boy it looked really cool with the hair after the assembly was done we all went off to lunch time.
